The Clayton Hotel Chiswick is a prominent 4-star contemporary hotel located on the Great West Road (A4) in West London. Its striking, modern architecture makes it a local landmark. The hotel caters primarily to a mix of business travellers, due to its strategic location and extensive conference facilities, and leisure visitors seeking a high-quality base with excellent transport links to central London and Heathrow.
It jointly hosted the UK Space Agency technical CCSDS meetings in 2024 and proved to be very proficient and welcoming venue.
London Heathrow Airport, commonly known as Heathrow, is a major international airport located in west London, England. It’s the busiest airport in the UK and a major hub for global air travel, connecting the UK to over 230 destinations in nearly 90 countries. Heathrow has four terminals (Terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5) and two runways, with Terminal 5 being the largest.
Gatwick Airport also known as London Gatwick Airport, is the secondary international airport serving London, Sussex and Surrey. It is located near Crawley in West Sussex, 30 miles (48 km) south of Central London. In 2024, Gatwick was the second-busiest airport by total passenger traffic in the UK, after Heathrow Airport, and was the 10th-busiest in Europe by total passenger traffic.
Heathrow is the closest airport to the Clayton Hotel Chiswick, offering a very direct and affordable journey.
Option 1: By Underground (The Tube) – Recommended & Cheapest
This is the most direct public transport option.
Option 2: By Taxi or Ride-Share (e.g., Uber or Black Cab)
This is the most convenient option, especially with heavy luggage.
Gatwick is south of London, so the journey involves taking a mainline train into Central London and then the Underground out to Chiswick.
Option 1: By Train & Underground – Recommended Balance of Speed & Cost
Option 2: By Taxi or Ride-Share
This is a very long and expensive journey due to the distance and London traffic. It is generally not recommended unless you are travelling in a large group.
The proposal is for the venue to reserve rooms for the SpaceOps delegates. The process for this will be released in due course. Alternatively, delegates can stay in and round London, as it offers many accommodation options. The recommendation is that delegates stay close to a Tube Station that serves the District line. South Kensington is pleasant and convenient for the meeting venue and the dinner on Wednesday.
