International Standards Organization (ISO) Committee on Space Systems
and Operations (TC20/SC14)
The International Standards Organization (ISO) Committee on Space Systems and Operations (TC20/SC14) is the principal subcommittee responsible for standardization in the field of space systems and operations. Founded in 1992, SC14 has a very broad scope with more than 80 projects underway. The scope of this group is standardization for manned and unmanned space vehicles, their design, production, maintenance, operation, and disposal, and the environment in which they operate. AIAA provides the Secretariat for TC20/SC14 and administers the Technical Advisory Group, which guides U.S. participation in TC20/SC14.
Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems
(CCSDS)
The Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) was founded in 1983 by ten of the world’s largest space agencies and originated as a forum for the discussion of common issues associated with space communications. Today, leading space communications experts from 28 nations participate in the CCSDS, meeting regularly to develop the most well-engineered space data handling standards in the world.
CCSDS also functions as ISO Technical Committee 20 Subcommittee 13 (TC20/SC13), Space Data and Information Transfer Systems. To date, TC20/SC13 has only processed CCSDS documents to be released as ISO documents. Most CCSDS normative documents are released as ISO documents via the special agreement between CCSDS and ISO.
Object Management Group
(OMG)
The Object Management Group (OMG) produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications.The Space Domain Task Force of OMG consists of space professionals committed to greater interoperability, reduction in costs, schedule, and risk for space applications through increased standardization.
